There are few teams who can challenge the Dodgers for the National League West, but they are certainly not alone.
The Dodgers will host a wild card matchup with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night in Anaheim, and if the Angels can hold off the Dodgers in the ALDS, it could have implications for the rest of the conference.
Los Angeles has already played the Angels twice in the last two seasons, and a win would clinch the division crown for the Angels.
The only other team in the division with a winning record over that span is the Philadelphia Phillies, which has gone 17-9 over the past two seasons.
The Angels have also been on a hot streak this season, winning three of their past four.
Los Angels pitcher Aaron Harang has been pitching well during his time in Anaheim this season.
He’s thrown a no-hitter in his past four starts, and he’s striking out an insane 15.2 batters per nine innings.
His 0.91 ERA is third best in the NL.
Harang also has one of the best strikeout rates in the majors this season at 12.9 strikeouts per nine.
He has also posted a 1.13 ERA over that time.
The Angels also have a tough division, as they’ve been on the outside looking in for the last several years.
The Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants are the only teams that have won at least 15 games over the last three years.
Arizona has the second-best record in baseball, and the Dodgers will be trying to make up ground against them.
The Dodgers are in a similar situation to the Angels this season because of the emergence of the young pitchers in the bullpen.
Kyle Seager, Michael Wacha and Dan Straily are all pitching extremely well, and their results suggest that they’ll be the ones to lead the way for the Dodgers to make it to the postseason.
Los Angelos manager Mike Scioscia will be hoping to build on what he’s already accomplished this season by trying to repeat as the best team in baseball.
He will also be hoping that the Dodgers’ rotation can pick up where it left off in 2014.
The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have a 4.02 ERA and 2.76 FIP in nine games against the Anaheim Angels.
