The announcement was made at a news conference on Thursday morning.
The new store will be called Aldi Detroit, according to the announcement.
Aldi said it is located on a 5.6-acre site on the corner of Broadway and East Michigan Avenue in Detroit.
It is the latest move in a wave of acquisitions by the company, which recently signed a deal to open a new flagship store in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“It is a testament to the power of the Aldi brand and the community that the new Aldi store will bring a fresh approach to convenience and convenience to the neighborhood,” Aldi CEO Robert Schulz said in a statement.
“The Detroit-based Aldi will create a new shopping destination for Detroiters with a rich history, community and identity, and will bring the best in local ingredients and produce to our customers.”
“Detroit is a proud city and we will continue to innovate, to create jobs, to bring great food and convenience and to connect Detroiters to the great community that they call home,” he added.
Aldi’s other stores in Michigan include an office and department store in Ann Arbor and an automotive dealership in Detroit’s South Side.
Aldis Detroit will be open from November 1 to November 10.
