New Delhi: For the first time in the history of this country, a supermarket is offering free groceries to consumers.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has asked the government to launch a scheme to provide free grocery packages to people in rural areas.
The scheme, which is expected to be launched by the end of this month, will be implemented at a rural and urban level.
The scheme will provide free food to people on a sliding scale based on the amount of time they spend travelling.
Food is the second most common item purchased by consumers in India.
According to the government, the government expects to provide food to 10 crore people in the next two years.
