VANCOUVER — When you enter a Costco store, it’s easy to mistake the vast majority of its cheese for that of your favourite local cheese store.
That’s not a problem at all.
Costco is one of the world’s largest cheese makers, and its cheese is among the best in the world.
In fact, it is one the best-selling cheeses in the country.
But the cheese that it makes at home is also one of its most popular.
“Cheese is an important part of our culture and a staple of the family,” says Costco’s vice president of cheese, Tom Cappello.
“It’s a good, hearty cheese.
It’s a quality product that people love.”
Costco’s cheese is a mix of American, Swiss, British, Italian, Canadian and French cheeses, and all are sold in bulk, often with a variety of extras.
It sells more than 1.3 million pounds of cheese per year.
Costco also makes a specialty of its own: the Velveeta.
It contains just a small amount of cheese of its kind — a few slices of cheese — but it’s a delicacy.
“I’m not going to say that Velveetas are the best,” says Cappellos son, Tom, “but they’re among the top cheeses that people are eating.”
In fact the top cheese is typically a mix made from both American and British cheeses.
For instance, at Costco the Viscacha is a combination of British and Italian cheese.
Velvees are also a favorite with children and teenagers, who can eat them with their family and friends.
Costco has become a popular destination for parents looking for a great cheeseburger.
“Parents love to come here and try some of the cheeses,” says Velvee’s general manager, Peter McKean.
“We know that it’s the most popular item on the menu.”
But that’s just a part of what makes Costco so popular with parents.
There are also kids-friendly prices on many of the items, and a number of the freshest cheeses are on sale.
“A lot of the cheese is made by hand.
You can pick it up, you can pick out the right slices, you just pick out what’s right for you,” says McKeans son, Tim.
“There are some very special cheeses on our menu that people have come up with that really appeal to our children.”
Some of the things kids like Costco cheese for are its rich, cheesy flavor, and the variety of flavors it has on offer.
The store has been able to keep up with the growing demand for its cheese, thanks to its growing number of restaurants and grocery stores.
It recently added the new Velveenato, which is made with Italian-style cheese, which it also markets as a family-friendly cheese.
Costco recently announced that it will open a new store in Vancouver.
But while the Vellum, which has an impressive list of products on its menu, is still the most sought-after, the new store won’t be the only one.
The Canadian-owned company is planning to open a store in Victoria, British Columbia, next year, which will offer more cheese and products that appeal to a wider range of tastes.
“When we open the new shop in Victoria we’re going to offer a lot of cheese and other cheeses made by different cheesemakers in Canada,” says Todd Gilden, Costco’s regional president for food.
“This is a new, exciting area for us to be able to be in.
We’re going through a transition at Costco, so we need to be a part at the table.”
Costco already has a presence in Vancouver, but it is still a relatively new store.
It opened its first store in 2009 and has now added about 10,000 square feet of space, and now has an expanded kitchen, an office and more than 2,000 employees.
Its employees include a variety from kitchen hands to sales managers, and are expected to help the company meet its growing needs for fresh ingredients.
“As our business grows and expands, our employees need to feel comfortable in their roles, and they need to work well with our customers,” says Gildens son, Thomas, who is vice president and general manager of Costco’s Vancouver branch.
“They need to know that we have a strong team here.”
Costco is not the only retailer that has been focusing on improving its cheese selection, especially in Vancouver and other cities that are seeing an influx of people looking for cheese.
In Vancouver alone, the company has added about 1,000 more workers to the grocery business, and has opened more than 3,500 more stores.
But its cheese has been among the most valuable.
The company has been growing steadily in recent years, and this year is expected to be one of those years when the cheese becomes even more valuable.
“At Costco we have had a strong growth year for
